My interests in research are the health, behaviour, and population dynamics of bees (Apis mellifera) in the Argentinean northwest, specifically in Yungas and Chaco Forest, in different spatial contexts. In this project I analyze how agrochemicals affect bees, whose population is decreasing drastically in the world. This research incorporates the use of GIS and nano-sensor RFIDs in bees. On the other hand, I study the effects of the invading tree Ligustrum lucidum (exotic invasive tree) in the animal communites of southern Yungas.

My training has been mainly in entomology, and my studies have focused on the ecology, behavior and genetics of insects. Currently I monitor the health of Apis mellifera in the Argentine NO, integrating genetic analysis, behavior and remote sensing. In particular, I seek to establish the structure and genetic variability of A. mellifera, its population dynamics in different spatial contexts and generate a predictive spatial model of potential mating areas in the Chaco and Yungas. These studies include the use of molecular markers, radiofrequency micro-identifiers to measure pesticides, drones, aerial photographs, satellite images and geographic information systems. We have a work team with interns from the UNT, the Mora Micuna Cooperative in Alberdi, CoopSol in Santiago del Estero, the Agriculture and Trucking School of the UNT, the University of Puerto Rico and the US Department of Agriculture.

I am interested on the environmental and socio-economic impact of livestock at different scales. At present, i'm studying trade-offs between meat production and carbon stock for silvopastoral systems in dry chaco. Also, i'm studying spatial determinants of cattle distribution in dry chaco.

I'm interested in the dynamics of carbon through woody biomass in the Chaco Seco forests, related to land uses such as fires, livestock and forest use. Currently, I'm working in fieldworks and database elaboration of permanent plots established in Chaco Seco at regional level since 2007

Work on issues related to plant ecology, dynamics and ecosystem functioning. At the moment I am interested in answering questions related to the ecology of invasive plants, the interactions between their functional attributes, the physical / biological factors and the socio-political and economic causes that can affect their distribution and the consequences of the same in the native ecosystems.

I am interested in bird ecology and the effects of Global Change on biodiversity. I am currently studying the relationship between patterns of beta taxonomic, phylogenetic and functional diversity of birds in the South American Gran Chaco.

My main research interests are linked to understand the effects of anthropic processes as forest loss and fragmentation of Dry forest Ecoregion on bird assemblages. Additionally, I am evaluating the role that linear remmnats of native forests left in the agricultural landscapes have in the delivery of ecosystem services. My interests are also focus to the rehabilitation and restoration of the degraded dry forests fragments.
